Can't export .avi file from Movie Maker

I need to export a .avi file from
Windows Movie Maker 2.

MS though has all the settings locked and
..wmv is the only file format it seems to
export.

As a result I cannot use these files in other
programs like AVID DV because it will only accept
..avi or.mov (quicktime) files

any help ???
