I have a Win2k Server and I am trying to share the internet through the
network. I have an ADSL modem and can connect the server to the internet
through a Network and Dial Up Connection. The I tried to define in
Routing in Remote Access a Routing Interface. When I did that it
suddenly did not find the Gateway for the DSL connection. I tried to
copy all the IP settings as far as possible from the Dial Up Connection
to be equal. Only the option for using the default gateway was not
available. Anybody has a clue how to set the gateway in such a case, or
to make the system recognize the automatic settings of the DSL connection?

Not sure the issue.but if you want to use the server as the router to share the internet access, you should enable RRAS with NAT.

Is it a PPPoE connection? W2K RRAS does not work well with PPPoE. RRAS
doesn't see an interface it can use. (Server 2003 has a PPPoE option).

You may get some hints from Darren's site at www.ozcableguy.com

I have an USB Modem for the DSL connection, not an Ethernet router.
Actually I found on the website below some tips how to set it up, and
got now mysteriously the gateway problem solved. I can use now the
automatically established connection on the server, but somehow it does
still not share it over the network for some reasons. So I am one step
further but dont know what is wrong now.

How do you establish your Internet connection? To use RRAS you will need
to set it up so that the connection appears as a demand-dial interface. (You
do not need to use the dial on demand option, but you must have a dd
interface).

If your Internet connection is a dd interface, it should appear in RRAS.
You can't do anything in RRAS until you see your Internet connection in the
RRAS console as an interface.
