the users of this particular machine are unable to enter
any text in any present textbox, unless they are listed in
the admin group (win2k SP3). Not even as a Power user.
IE 6 SP1,with patches Q832894, Q837009, Q831167.
Any help would be appreciated

This is probably being caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite) Malware of this type can affect only some user accounts.

Work through the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm Also note the security tips on that
page.

John,

Something that might help --

Just ran across the same problem with our new XP SP2 system -- although a
little more interesting. Seems text boxes worked fine until we arrived at
the www.microsoft.com site. Then we couldn't click into them (although we
could tab into them). From that point on, no matter what other site we went
to we couldn't click into text boxes (even though it would work just fine
before visiting the Microsoft site).

Finally, by trial and error, tracked the problem down to a secuity setting.
If Scripting: Active Scripting was set to Disable or Prompt the text boxes
displayed this behavior. If set to Enable things started working again.
