Can't enter certain website areas

When I first got my computer with Internet Explorer 6 I was able to enter any
secured area on any website. I had a program that got downloaded to my PC
and used AdAware to find and get rid of it, which worked. I also went into
the Internet Options, but I don't remember changing anything.

But, now I'm not able to post a question to the MS Newgroup website from my
computer and I'm restricted from areas of other websites as well. I can sign
in to the MS Newsgroup, but when I click Question, nothing happens.

I've set everything in Internet Options to default and there are no sites
listed in restricted or trusted sites. Is there another setting that you can
think of that I may have inadvertently unchecked that is increasing the
internet security on my PC?

Thanks so much,
Alex

In Internet Explorer -
1. Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
2. Scroll down to the Security Settings.
3. Make sure that the two boxes are checked that say
"Enable SSL 2" or "Enable SSL 3".
Try your secure sites.

Another thing you can try is:
Go to start/run
Type in: regsvr32 softpub.dll
Press Enter or click OK
