Actually, if you save the file as a 97-2003 format, users of previous
versions of PPT will be able to open the file. Click the Office Button,
hover over Save As, and select 97-2003 format from the flyout list on the
right.
Or click Save As and select 97-2003 from the Save as Type dropdown list.
Additionally, PPT 2002 and 2003 users (and maybe 2000 users, not sure) can
install the compatibility pack that enables them to open 2007-format files..
It's here:

That said, your package for CD might be greyed out because you haven't
downloaded and installed the PPT Viewer (although it should be installed
with PPT itself, I think). It's here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=048DC840-14E...
Incidentally, your users could just download the 2007 Viewer to view PPT
2007-format files.
Finally, you should know that the 2007 Viewer is really just the 2003 Viewer
bundled with the compatibility pack. Because the compat pack doesn't
actually run from CD, the Package for CD process actually converts your
2007-format file back to 97-2003 format (unless you opt to use the "archive
only" option in the package for cd dialog). So you might as well just
"backsave" it to 97-2003 format yourself.

I have a .pptx file with a nice presentation. Unfortunately, only
those with PP can view it. I've read that the solution is to use the
"Package for CD" feature, but it is disabled. Is there a way to enable
this feature. Why would it be disabled?- Hide quoted text -
