To the point: make sure your computer's time ZONE is set right, and the
TIME is consistent with that zone (even if it's off a minute or two).

My friend, using OE6 and W2K Professional, tried taking a survey at this
site: www.jcpsurvey.com. Once she clicked on the "English" link, the
following page said her cookies were not enabled. I went through the
usual routine involving Tools/Internet Options/Privacy/Advanced and
Accepted all first- and third-party cookies, and checked the "Always
allow session cookies. No avail.

After scouting around the internet, I came across someone's suggestion
to check the time. Turns out, her computer, located in the Eastern time
zone, was set for the Pacific time zone, but the time appearing in the
lower right corner was correct for Eastern time. Once I set the time
zone to Eastern, and adjusted the time to Eastern, the cookie issue went
away.

Odd that a cookie problem has at its root a zone/time issue. This in not
a problem using Sea Monkey as a browser, also with W2K Pro, on my
computer. So the issue is something oddball about IE6 (don't know about
other versions), and cookies.

Hope this saves someone from lots of grief.

My mistake. I meant to say "using IE6 and W2K..." in the first sentence
of the second paragraph. " Thanks for pointing that out. At least I got
it right in the next to last paragraph.

[Why did you crosspost to OE General newsgroup?]
