I wish to edit a DVD with 1970 old home movies that were transfered from
movie to VCR and finally this particular DVD.
The DVD was made by playing the VCR on a Sony RDR-VX515 ( a combo unit that
has a DVD recorder and VHS unit built in) and burning this DVD at the same
time.
For editing I use Pinnacle Studio9.43. When (per instructions)I insert this
DVD and open Studio and click on File/ Import DVD Titles, I get an error
message:â€Studio program file has encountered a problem and needs to close.â€
There is a technical error report, which I don’t understand. I did not
enclose it here, because it is very long.
The problem is not with Studio, I can edit any other DVD. It is with this
particular DVD.
What can I do to make these home movies editable?
Thanks in advance, Gerhard

As you've copied from VHS to DVD on a standalone unit,
the file will be a specific type of mpeg known as a VOB.
Most editing software finds editing VOB files quite tricky.
I'm not familiar with your specific Pinnacle software.
You type that you can "edit any other DVD" with this software?
Do you mean if you import from a DVD *disk* you can edit?
Or do you mean "DVD type file's" created on your Hard disk?
(Actually, they are not the same type of mpeg2).
Whilst awaiting your response, you could try here:
http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/uk/Support/Consumer+Support/

This is an excellent editing package, including the editing
and conversion of VOB files (DVD disk) .... But it ain't free
http://www.dvdzip.org/?tag=vob

Or, you could try:
www.download.com

Or you could try typing into google:
"freeware VOB editing software" (You'll get 332000 results)
But, I've never tried freeware VOB editing software.............
