Can't edit formats in notes area

I can't edit the format(font, size,etc) of the text I typed into the notes
area below the slide. Is this a bug or am I simply not supposed to do any
formatting in the notes area?

I'm using Home/student 2007,thank you in advance.
 
Hi,

Go to View-> Notes Page and you can see the text on notes page and you get
Font option on right click.
