Can't e-mail my large powerpoint file!

Hi. I built a technical presentation consisting of 65 slides with lots
of inserted photos and images. But it is too big (16 MB) and keeps
getting bounced back from our e-mail system. Is there anything I can
do quickly to make the file small enough to send?

Rob,
A few suggestions from the PPT FAQ which you will find useful beyond belief:
1) Don't try anything in PPT before you do this (Especially the hint about
turning off Fast Saves and then re-saving your file)

Do what Kathryn has advised.....but also

A quick fix would be to use pptools (www.pptools.com) to compress the
pictures. see

A another quick fix would be to break the .ppt file into chunks with
something like winzip. Then email the chunks...then re-assemble at the other
end.

Thanks all for your advice. Sorry for the slow response. I was busy
compressing every image in PaintShop - boy, what a pain that was and
it took over two hours. I was able to get the file size down to around
4MB - still pretty large! But I did what you suggested and broke down
the new file into "chunks" of 1MB and was able to e-mail it in four
separate e-mails. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED...until the next time.

TAJ, I downloaded pptools and tried it, but it did not do much better
than WinZip as far as file size and some of the images were also kind
of blurry after I ran it through. But thanks anyway.

You mentioned that you followed Taj's advice and shrunk all the images then
reinserted them ... Even if you're a novice, you're a human, which makes you
smarter than most of the optimizing tools out there. They can only automate
what you've already done, really. And you can make visual judgement calls
that automatic tools will never be able to do.

You done good!. ;-)
