Can't e-mail large attachments

I can send attachments less than about 2MB and they go quickly and
efficiently. I often receive large (5MB) attachments in my mail, and if I
try to forward them, the 'server timeout' always gets me. I've bumped the
timeout up to 5 minutes, and have clicked to 'wait' when the warning appears.
No luck. I've got high speed broadband service, and when I was using
Windows ME last week, it worked fine. The IP techies say that the server
will take messages up to 10MB. I've shut down my e-mail scanning, my virus
scan, all that stuff. I get error # 0x800CC19. I've been through e-mail
settings and options, and nothing helps. I'm ready to pull the plug and go
back to Windows ME and Outlook Express.

Some antivirus programs interfere with attachments even when email scanning
is turned off. As a test, you may want to uninstall the antivirus program temporarily.

It worked! I uninstalled McAfee, and now I can forward the same large
attachments that McAfee allowed into my mailbox. Thanks Gary!

Thanks for another confirmation that McAfee is worse than useless.
You may want to download and install one of the free antivirus
programs like AVG or Avast. As always, configure them to
NOT scan email.
