It always sends me to an "unauthorised download" page where it mentions
"leeching" but I'm not leeching - I only want rhe drivers!

Any ideas?

If you are using Opera or Firefox, make sure you have referrer logging
enabled.

It is because they are looking for a referrer id to show that you
followed the link from the correct Ati page, which you either aren't
doing or you are using a download manager. This is done by Ati to
(help) prevent hot linking from other sites, but is a pain in the neck
if you are using a download manager that doesn't correctly handle
referrers. One that might work is the "downthemall" extension for
Firefox. But for guaranteed results follow the download link from
Ati's official driver page and let your browser handle the download
directly. If you are on broadband this isn't a problem, but it used to
kill me in my 56k dial-up days when my line dropped after two hours....
like I said, pain in the neck and one reason (CCC being the other) why
I started using the basic driver only with the Ati Tray Tools (Ray
Adams).

I'm not sure where the problem is coming in, but I use Firefox
(Latest version) and I do not have any problem downloading directly
from ATI with none of the logging enabled, nor do I have them in
favorites/bookmarks)

If it thinks that then you are probably using a torrent. Just use the
download manager.
I did the below using the Windows download manager through Firefox
with no logging or favorites used. It downloaded the entire catalyst
suite in about 20 seconds. (29 Meg)
Don't know about the leeching but the links also go to an akamai.net
tracking server. You'll probably have to put it in your favorites or
something similar to allow access. Sample link below.
There should be no need. Just don't download as a torrent.

Just go to www.ati.com, which will actually take you to the MSI site.
Select "Drivers and soft ware", Then your OS, followed by the card
family such as Radeon, Then type such as Radeon X1950series (all X1950
cards) Then on the download page get

OOPS Don't know where the rest of that went, but it should have said:

Then on the download page get "Catalyst software Suite" for every
thing or "Display driver" for just the drivers.

Quick and easy.

I'm using IE6 with my Internet security settings at High. It can't use
ActiveX or d/l anything with that setting. Have to lower that setting or put
the site into the Trusted Sites category. Not using any other software.

If you use the right mouse click /save as it might do that. Or save the leeching page.
