Anytime I try to download a file whether it be on a website or my email I ger
a message that says You are not authorized to view this page.

Hi embalmergurl :-)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, which really is a
must when asking for help in the newsgroups, and the details of your problem
are very vague, as that error can mean many things. Try the following as it
may apply to your OS and see if it helps. If not, please post back with
your version of Windows and more detailed information about your problem
such as: What type of file are you trying to download, what type of
connection to the Internet do you have, etc.

First, clear the Temporary Internet Cache -

If you have any 3rd party toolbars such as Google, MSN or Yahoo, disable
them. If you have Yahoo Companion, uninstall it. If you have any 3rd party
software, popup or ad blockers, disable them.

Rename your HOSTS file to OLDHOSTS and see if the problem persists.
Check for a hosts file (just "hosts" not hosts.sam or lmhosts) in these
locations:
Windows XP. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Windows 2K. C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Win 98\ME. C:\WINDOWS
You may have to enable the viewing of hidden files.

Check your computer clock and date setting and make sure they are correct.

Check your proxy and security settings.

Hope this helps.
