I have a website hosted by an ISP that has made some
changes to their servers....NOW suddenly i cannot
download pdf or doc files from my website.
I get the following error --- "Cannot Download
filename.PDF of filname.doc--file File does not exist"

The problem is that the ISP thinks that is a problem from
my end..... When it is actually not my problem.

Strangely I get the error only in I.E. browsers and i've
sent the link to some friends and they too see the error
in I.E. all versions.

Here is the link to show you what i am talking about
http://www.extremefx.net/testpdf.pdf
or
http://www.extremefx.net/downloadtest.doc

Can anybody download these from their browsers?

The Bottom line is i cannot download any files from my
website that is hosted by this provider and worst of all
they don't believe me.
What can i suggest to them to try so that i can download
files again?

Sincerely Help.

Works fine from here. Are you sure as a customer your not logging in to a
different directory structure than outside visitors.

OH OH...
I think this must be another I.E. 6 problem...
My host provider is using LINUX server

I still cant download any files from my website using
I.E. 6

Hi RT,

This behavior occurs when the Content Expiration option in the Hypertext
Transfer Protocol (HTTP) Headers, within IIS, is set to Expire Immediately.
Internet Explorer must save files to the local cache directory, and then
use the associated application to open the file. If you set Content
Expiration to Expire Immediately, the documents are not cached locally and
the operation fails. I am not sure if there is any similar settings on the
Apache server. You can consider checking this with your ISP.

Please let me know if this helps.
