My computer came with Windows already installed on it.
BIG mistake! I can't do anything without the Windows CD.
I can't even use the "Comand Prompt"? I can't -scannow-
or do any of the functions as long as I have to use
the "Windows CD".
When I trid to -scannow- it prompts me for the CD.
I have the "Recovery CD". but that doesn't seem to do
sqwat!
Does anyone else have this problem and what do you do?

Complain to your PC vendor, and demand a full XP installation disk!

Hi,

Look for the i386 folder on your root drive and then change the path here:
Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Setup.

In the right pane, double click SourcePath and type in the path to your i386
folder.

If XP SP1 is installed: Example: C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386
In the right pane, change the value of ServicePackSourcePath.

if it's new, take it back!

BTW, "Can't do nothing" is a double negative, and ACTUALLY means "I can
do something".

What? That's all French to me. I don't know if you
reread these "replies" so I'll post a "new post" today. I
need some help. Thank You Kelly, I went to your web-site
but nothing there,at least where I looked.DooCee

Yes, I read replies. New post not needed.

Go to Start/Search and type in: i386. Make note of the path then go to
Start/Run/CMD/SFC /Scannow and point to the folder for starters.

System File Checker

/SCANNOW
Scans all protected system files immediately.
/SCANONCE
Scans all protected system files at the next boot.
/SCANBOOT
Scans all protected system files at every boot.
/REVERT
Windows XP: Return to default settings.
