Can't dl linked files, can dl unlinked files; why???

For some reason I can no longer dl hyperlinked files.

For example when I tried to dl files from this site"

http://www.forteinc.com/agent/download.php

I got the same results, regardless of which FTP I clicked. There was a
*very* long delay then, finally, the following message "file can not
be displayed"

When I Googled the file I wanted it was foundt, without a hyperlink,
and it dl without a problem.

Any idea why this is happening?

Have you deleted your cache lately? In IE, tools, Internet Options, delete files.
