Recently when using IE it will not open a link or picture when opens in a
new window. It works fine if the link runs in the same window. It has me
stumped.

So far i have tried the following: resetting all IE settings, clearing
cookies, history etc, disabling all plugins, disabling pop-up blockers (IE
and google toolbar), in addition i have run adaware, spybot and AVG and it
has come out clean.

If anyone has any input it would be great (dont say use firefox :-p i'm
using it just now because i cant start a new thread without IE opening a new
window!)

Hi ronalds :-)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, so I can only take a
guess. Try the following and see if it helps:

New window is blank or nothing happens when you click on a link - Q281679

Go to Tools> Internet Options> Advanced.
Uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts".

Also, if you have Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, a firewall,
Earthlink (or another pop-up blocker) My IE2 (a shell for IE) etc.
Yahoo Companion is a very common cause.

You'll have to turn off the feature that's blocking new windows or, perhaps,
uninstall the program (especially uninstall Yahoo Companion).

With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow
a new window.

If you're *sure* that another program isn't causing this, these links may
help.
