I downloaded a game, Word Struck, and couldn't get it to work. It just would
not open in Vista.

All attempts at uninstalling fail and shift+delete has no effect. Any
suggestions as to how I can rid myself of this pest?

Some things you can try.

Look in the programs folder under Program Files in the root drive. Look for
a file called Uninstall or Unwise. Double click the file and hopefully the
program will uninstall.

When you try to delete the programs folder, do you get an error message,
like Access Denied?

The following is not recommended, because it will leave all of the programs
registry settings and other junk for the program on the system.

Right click the folder and select Properties/Security Tab. Click the
Advanced Button. Select the Owner folder and on the next screen, select the
Edit Button. Select your account in the list and click Apply. OK your way
out of properties. Try deleting the folder again.

If you do use this procedure, you need to go into the registry and delete
any reference to that specific program. Be careful with this and make sure
you have a recent Restore Point that you can revert to in case of problems.

Please help us to help you. What does "All attempts at uninstalling"
mean? Please be specific. What did you try? What happened when you
tried? If you get an error message, please quote it verbatim.

For information on how to make a good newsgroup posting, read

Thanks for that. The strange thing is I had visited the program folder as
suggested before. There was no uninstall option just the program file which
nothing would budge. After reading your note I revisited and just for the
hell of it tried deleting the whole file again and it went like a lamb to the
slaughter.

Glad I didn't have to fiddle with the register.

Cheers
