Hi

I recently downloaded a .avi file but when i try to delete it i get the error message 'cannot delete file it may be in use by another person or program', however this is not the case. Once i acknowledge this message explorer becomes really slow and after checking the task manager i see it is using 97-99% of the CPU. So i have to close it and restart it to get back to normal speed.
Anybody know why this is and how i can delete this file please?

p.s. i running xp professional and the file is about 700m

Hi,

Open the media player, remove that file from the playlist, then close the
media player and retry deleting the .avi file.

Hi Niandra,

To delete the file in Windows XP, remove the following registry key.

Goto Start >Run >Type "regedit" go to

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850D
C73E}\InProcServer32] - Delete this key

This prevents Windows Explorer from loading shmedia.dll in response to
the property queries on these files.

Good lulck, I hope this helps.
