Just recently my mother has had a trojan horse on her
computer. Since then emails from her have shown up
without a sender's name. I had used the preview pane to
find out the emails are from her. No one else seems to be
having this problem with emails from her.

Outlook will not let me delete these problem emails. When
I try to delete them (with the preview pane off) it says:

Outlook.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
Windows.

any ideas? please email me at (e-mail address removed)

thanks

Try opening the message and choose Edit-> Edit message. Type a space and
save and close the message. Try deleting it now.

Hope this helps! Please post back to the newsgroup to keep the conversation
intact.

I tried opening the message to edit it and add a space.
However, as soon as I open it, it gives me the same
message as when I tried to delete it and closes down my
Outlook.

Any other ideas?

Try running scanpst.exe against your pst-file.

Also; try starting Outlook in safe-mode;
Start-> Run-> browse to outlook.exe and add the /safe switch and press OK.

If this doesn't fix it go for the easy solution (I don't really trust
pst-files that has had virus messages in it for a long time that even got a
change to infect the computer);
Create a new pst-file and copy all messages to it except those that give you
problems.

Tip: I noticed you posting an unscrambled valid e-mail address in the
newsgroup. This is not a good idea as SPAM-bots will harvest e-mailaddresses
from newsgroups like these.

I had same problem - following method solved my problem.
If using Outlook
1. Make a note of where the file outlook.pst is located (make a
backup)
2. In Outlook, export to another .pst file (can use outlook.pst saved
to a different folder)[Make sure you select the root folder plus
subfolders before exporting]
3. Exit Outlook and replace old outlook.pst with new pst file
4. Start outlook again - should now be able to delete emails

Notes: scanpst didn't seem to pick up what was causing the problem -
when I used a program called mailnavigator to look inside the
outlook.pst file it had a large number of blank email records.

This has been a problem for years with both Outlook and Outlook
Express - why hasn't MS fixed it?

Basically my suggested solution :-)

What problem are you refering to? The blanks are the deleted items that
haven't been truncated yey.
