Cant delete email in Vista

Ok I have read some of these posts and still don't know what to do about
this. I got this brand new computer which came with Vista I didn't have an
option of an OS. Now not only can I not access the Microsoft Excel program
but now I can't delet trash in my emails. I have hundreds of emails sitting
there. Not for nothing but this is something that should not be happening and
with no resolution in site. I don't get it. I understand that with new
programs there are going to be bugs but this is ridiculous. I mean you can't
delete emails which is a basic function. The Excel I don't get either. I
try to open a spreadsheet and go to view it or print it and I get an error
and then the program kicks me out. I brought it back to the store and after
hours of being there for a NEW computer just bought they tell me that it is a
database Microsoft issue. I am like great! So no resolution. Whatever
happened to the days when you bought a computer took it home and it actually
did what it was suppose to do? Now I spend hours on this thing looking for
patches and updates from a million sites. I don't have time for this and for
all the money spent on this thing I expect it to work. Come on Microsoft!

OK well I think I have fixed my deleted folder problem, well for the moment.
I went into the deleted items folder highlighted all the emails and pressed
empty deleted items folder from the edit menu. I had to do that for each
email so if you have alot of emails it may take a while but I did get to
delete everything and as of right now when I send something to the deleted
items folder and press empty deleted items folder it works, so I hope this
helps.

Yes I had the same problem and the same solution. Don't fool yourself, your
problems are probably still not over. A couple of days after I fixed this
problem, I have emails stuck in Spam Killer and I now have an email stuck in
my outbox. Because it is stuck there, I can no longer send any emails. I
spent hours on the phone with Microsoft, Gateway and my service provider.
Nobody has helped me. I only purchased the computer March 13th and if I
don't get the problem resolved I will be packing up the computer and
bringing it back to the store I purchased it from, they have to take it
back. Unfortunately, I can't buy a new computer without Vista on it...and as
you and many others have discovered Vista sucks!! All the chats I have been
looking at are all complaining about the same issues. Some of the complaints
go back to July...you think they would have had ample time now that it is
April to have resolved or at least come out with a patch. Many businesses
and schools will not purchase Vista since it is not compatable with
anything. So we, the home users are the guinea pigs, until all the glitches
are worked out. This is really pathetic!! I hope you continue to be problem
free!

Uninstall McAfee. Then remove your email account, close WinMail, open
WinMail and add the account back.

First thing is to remove McAfee or Norton AV and antispam from the computer
if they exist. You may need to visit their website to fully uninstall the
product. Then get something less invasive. There are a number of free
antivirus programs, but with any you have to disable email scanning. See
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

After that, the only solution so far is to wipe out the database. So go to
Tools | Options | Maintenance | Advanced | Store Folder to find the message
store location. Then move everything under that Windows Mail directory to
another directory. Then restart WinMail and it will open fresh with nothing
in the database. You can then add your accounts and if they work correctly
then you can use File | Import | Messages and choose WinMail format and
point to the directory to which you moved the files.

I can't open one of my messages in my inbox. I can't move it or delete it.
Vista is a big PAIN, I have spent more time with this program than ever. I
was much happerier with XP. I should have went on Ebay and purchased a
computer with XP but instead went to Comp Usa and all they have is Vista. I
guess I will just use my Yahoo mail.

Right click it and mark it as read. Then you might be able to delete it.
If not, ignore it.

If you are using McAfee or Norton, uninstall it.

It is possible that some one from M$ will read this, and give a solution?

I don't understand the logic some people use, saying Vista sucks
because WinMail sucks. WinMail is only a small part of Vista.
Free email programs are a dime a dozen, so why get upset if
one doesn't work for you? Just move on to the next email program!

You've put your finger on why people get upset.
Tried and tested email programs are a dime a dozen and thus when a
a OS costing hundreds of wonga doesn't include such a fundemental
part of being online one, can easily feel stung.

It's like getting toys at christmas only to find
you can't get batteries until the 27th.

It is fair cause for tantrums and tears.

Currently MS are soliciting feedback about UAC security but
without email, security is, for most people, simply not an issue.
