Can't Delete Certain Temp Files

I'm running W-2000/pro.

Under C-drive/documents and settings/my name/local
settings/temp there are two files shown, as follows:

Acr4cb.tmp 2000 MB
Acr4cc.tmp 1 MB

When I try to delete them I'm told I can't - "There has been
a sharing violation. Source or destination file may be in
use."

I believe these relate to Acrobat Reader, which I seldom
use, and it is not in use when I'm trying to get rid of
these temp files.

Suggestions for getting rid of them?

Thanks.

Have you tried doing it on Safe Mode ?

As all of us, sometimes we come across malware applications that use
filenames that make us believe in legitimate applications (Windows
Update,Acrobat,...)

Also checked for security permissions for the this Temp folder?

No problem. I knew what you both meant but when Stubby corrected yours with
an incorrect domain name AND extension I couldn't resist.

The problem is (apparently) solved. For unrelated reasons
I restarted the computer, and then noticed that the files in
question were gone. I don't understand it, but I'm glad.

Thanks to all the assistance from you guys.

IIRC, Acrobat and Acrobat Reader load a background "speed-launch" file
via the Startup Directory which allows faster starting of the main
program. It may be that these temp files are left by that background
program and are locked while its running but deleted on shutdown.

Personally, I get rid of these speed launch programs from the start
since (like most people probably) my use of the reader is at best
occasional so a slightly longer startup time isn't a big deal. And I'd
rather not have the overhead of yet another background program - one
more thing to slow the system and/or cause problems.
