In one of my computers windows was corrupt so I want to format the hdd. But
first I need to back up some files so I connected the hdd to another pc. But
the folder I want to copy was private in the other computer. So I logged on
in safe mode I add full access to the admin and the user. IN normal mode I
can delete the files but I can't copy. I can only copy or cut in safe mode
but I want to do that in normal mode. Any suggestions?

Assuming you are logging on as the same user account in both Safe Mode and
regular logon I have never heard of that happening before. Either way make
sure that you are logged on as a user that is local administrator on the
current operating system and then take ownership of the folders needed being
sure to select the option in the parent folder to replace owner on
subcontainers and objects. Once you are the owner make sure your user
account or administrators has full control to the folders and at the parent
folder go to the advanced page in security and select replace permissions
entries on all child objects. If you continue to have problems you should
run Check Disk on that hard drive and select the option to automatically fix
file system errors. Another possibility is to use backup and restore and the
built in NTbackup to retrieve the files and selecting the option to not
save/restore permissions on the backed up data. All this assumes none of the
files are encrypted via EFS that can be done in XP Pro.
