I want to create a new databse but upon clicking Blank
Databse under New File, and giving a name to the new
database a logon box pops up and asks for login and
password. Nobody has any idea why it asks me for that
just to create a new databse. I am not trying to open a
password protected file. I want to create a new one. So
practically I am locked out of Access. Does anybody have
an idea how to fix it? Thanks.

You are currently joined to a workgroup file where the Admin password isn't
blank.

If you had secured a database before, you will be joined to the new
workgroup file you used to secure it with. You need to use workgroup
administrator to join the default system.mdw that ships with Access (it's
usually located in the windows, system folder).

The workgroup administrator is found under tools, security in access 2002.
For prior versions use Start, Run, wrkgadm.exe.

Then someone (evil person) used your default system.mdw to secure some
database. I suggest you rename it to system1.mdw (just in case you find
that you need it in the future).

If you are using Access 2002, just open Access and it will create a new
system.mdw file for you. If a prior version, then try copying system.mdw
from another computer.
