I'm wanting to copy a playlist to a CD with MediaPlayer. When I use the
File/Copy command the "Copy to audio CD" command is not available
(highlighted). The device is working, just can't be accessed from
MediaPlayer. Any ideas?

You can't copy files to Audio-CD, explorer style. You can lay down
audio-tracks, but a playlist is superfluous on an audio CD.

Hi Mike,

I think you're trying to clarify my problem statement and, if so, yes I
can't copy files to an audio CD. More specifically, I want to focus upon
Windows MediaPlayer function. The standard process to copy audio files to
CD is to select the "Copy to CD or Device" button, go to file/copy and
select "Copy to Audio CD". The selection "Copy to Audio CD is not "bolded"
and, therefore, not available. I'm thinking the CD drive (which is a write
drive) is not recognized by MediaPlayer and I don't know what to do.

Where is the "Copy to CD or Device" button? Don't you have a "Burn" pane?

Which versions of WMP and Windows are you referring to?

Hi Mike...thanks for the reply.

I'm using WMP 9 and Windows XP.

In WMP 9 there are a series of buttoms vertically on the left side of the
application window. (I don't know what 10 looks like. I was tempted to load
10 but suspect that the problem I'm having is not related to WMP
specifically and I don't need to add more variables to the equation. For
example, I also can't copy a picture to a CD using XP tools.) The help
instructions say to select that button, then select file/copy. Copy has
three selections 1) Copy from audio CD 2) Copy to audio CD, and 3) Copy to
portable device. 1 and 3 are in regular font and apparently functional...#2
is in a light font and not functional.

A little history on my problem...I lost the connection to my CD drives.
That is, in My Computer I couldn't see the CD drives and no applications
would recognize them. This may (probably) happened when I tried to use a
third-party burner software for the first time since upgrading to XP. I
read a MS KB article that said this could/would happen upon upgrade. The
article said to make a registry mod to correct the problem. I did it and it
did! The CD drives returned but the CDR is not recognized as a write device
(it originally was). If you have any suggestions I would appreciate them.

Thanks...DG
