"Can't copy the items. You don't have permission ..."

I use OL 2003, latest service pack,etc. My PST file is about 1.2 GB
and is Unicode-compatible.

Lately Outlook shuts down suddenly without warning, and I have left
checked the box to restart Outlook automatically. This is a big
annoyance. However, in the last 2-3 days, I'm seeing a new kind of
problem. I can't delete or move messages from mail folders.

I get the message that is in the subject line, and the balance of this
message is:

... to create an entry in this folder. Right-click the folder and then
click Properties to check your permissions for the folder. See the
folder owner or your administrator to change your permissions."

Huh?

Right-clicking any such folder, I then click on the Administration
Tab. In this windows, everything is greyed out except "Initial View
on folder." In other words, I obviously don't have any permissions,
even though I am the only user of Outlook and my logon ID also has
admin privileges.

What gives?

I did the usual due diligence web search. Nothing, nothing on the
Microsoft web site. I did find a few old postings in this group.
Following instructions, I deleted the contents of the DELETED folder,
and then ran SCANPST. The result was "minor inconsistencies only,
which I did repair.

Then when I restarted OL, it did not crash right away. But I did get
the same messages. I could not even dismiss a reminder for a past
calendar appointment.

So I ran SCANPST yet again. And again found only "minor
inconsistencies." And then restarted OL. And then it crashed again,
before I had a chance to do any work.

What do I do? This is extremely frustrating. There is no free
support from MS. Do I really need to pay them $49 to help me with the
bugs?

[problem with a weird error message and my inability to copy/move mail
messages out of the INBOX or any other folder to other folders]

No. This problem is intermittent. The last time I encountered it
(after doing a SCANPST), I shut down and restarted Outlook, and the
problem went away.
