cant copy movies from video camera

when i go to copy information from my digital video camera i go to the capture from video device then go through all the options till i get to one and no matter what i do i will either get an error or the program will closing causeing me to reboot
what can i do to fix this error.
 
How far do you get? Is it always at the same point? Have
you tried updating things like directX? Also have a look
at www.papajohn.org and view the problem solving>acc and
codecs page as this helps a lot with MM2 crashing
problems.
