My XP laptop developed a graphics fault, so I took the HDD out, and mounted
it in a USB caddy.
I took delivery of a new Vista machine today. Connected the USB caddy with
HDD therein, and tried to copy my documents to the Vista machine's HDD.
I can copy individual files and folders with a small amount of data, but any
attempt to copy a folder with significant sub-folders or data fails. No error
message, no slow response, just lack of any activity.
Other than copying my numerous files individually, what do I do now?
After a google search, I tried the fix of 'turning auto tuning off' - i.e.
open a command prompt, and enter command - "netsh int tcp set global
autotuninglevel=disabled" - all I got in response to this was an error
message -
"Set global command failed on IPv4 The requested operation requires elevation"
The machine is fresh out of the box, I set up my initial login as
administrator;
What do I do now?
