Can't copy foto files to Cd

Help! When I select the photos I want to copy to a CD-R, I get a message
saying that there isn't a disc in the drive or please insert recordable
media. There IS a disc in the drive, and I have tried numerous brand new
discs, but the drive doesn't seem to pick them up. Any thoughts or
suggestions would be appreciated!!
