Today I tried repeatedly to check mail on hotmail, but I can an error saying
the site does not exist. It suggests some alternatives which are exactly
the same as what I tried, but it gives errors for them also.
I have no problems on my other computer which shares the internet
connection, so it must be my computer.
What could be wrong? Thanks

Hi,
Try putting these sites in Trusted Sites: Internet Options> Security>
Trusted Sites.
msn.com, hotmail.com, passport.net.

Make sure that you're allowing cookies for those sites. Internet Options>
Privacy.

Check here for other possibilities:

The list of other possibilities included the clock being wrong, and mine was
by 55 minutes.
So I tried to synchronize it, but couldn't connect.
So I tried turning my firewall off, but found that all my Norton stuff was
screwed up.
I rebooted and the Norton stuff was okay and I could suddenly get through to
hotmail.
But, I still can't synchronize.
Progress. Thanks.

Try setting your system clock manually. There are a number of sites which
display "correct" time. Here's one:

Here's another, of course you'll have to hit Refresh to keep the display
current

I use the freeware utility WebTime from
http://www.gregorybraun.com/WebTime.html It has worked well with Win95,98 ME
& XP. You might give it a try.
