I have a small home network and a work network. I am
trying to connect to my home network via VPN both machines
are running XP Pro. When I went thru the wizard I added a
user name and password to connect with. I have tried both
just a user name and username@domain Neither are
successful. I opened ports 1723, 47, 500, 50, 51 these
are all fowarded to the vpn host and they are open for
both tcp and udp. When I try to connect I get a error 650
and it states something about the server type may be
incorrect? Am I missing something?

Hi,

To connect with PPTP you need to allow TCP 1723 and GRE (IP Protocol 47).
You do not need to open TCP and UDP 47, 50 and 51 or UDP 1723.
As a test can the VPN host make a vpn connection to itself?

Thanks,
