Can't connect using Start Talking/Camera/Remote Assistance

I am unable to connect using Start Talking/Camera/Remote Assistance and the
same contact (my parents) can't connect to me either. We have both run the
Audio Tuning Wizard and all is OK. We don't have any problems communicating
via text/chat. I haven't tested with any other contacts as we are both just
setting this up for the first time.

When either of us initiates the connection, the other accepts and a status
message is displayed in the bottom of the conversation window to indicate a
connection is trying to be established to the other computer.

The connection attempt just seems to time out and a message is displayed in
the conversation window indicating the conversation was ended. No errors
messages are displayed.

I'm assuming this may have something to do with network configuration
settings. Any ideas where to start?
 
We both get the following message after the connection attempt times out:
"The network or computer you are trying to reach is experiencing a problem.
Please try again later."
