Hello:

I am using internet explorer 6.0 in windows XP, and
suddenly I cannot gain access to a common website
(google.com). When I try to access this site, either
from my favourites list, or by typing in the name in the
address bar, I am sent to a website called "cpanel.net",
announcing "there is no website configured at this
address"

I know that the google website is up and functioning
properly -- I just checked with another computer. So
something has gone wrong with the settings in my
computer. Does anyone know what I can do?

please help!

thanks,

Jeremy

NAME: Delude
ALIAS: Trojan.BAT.Startpage.a
Delude is a trojan that is available on a web page. The web page contains a
code that uses a vulnerability in the Internet Explorer (MS03-032) to
execute.
More information about the vulnerability, including a fix, is available from
Microsoft at:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/security_bulletins/ms03-032.asp
VARIANT: Delude.A
The HTA code available on a web page downloads a file "partyboy.exe" from an
ftp site and runs it. This file is is packed with UPX. It is a batch file
which was compiled to executable binary (".exe") using a BatToExe tool.
When executed, it changes the Internet Explorer start page to find-now.info.
It prevents access to the most major search engines such as Google, Yahoo,
Lycos, MSN and AltaVista. To do this it replaces the following file:

Hi:
Thanks for your message. But I can't seem to find the
trojan on my system by using my anti-virus software. I
downloaded updated patch for IE from the Microsoft
Windows updater, and I am running the latest anti-virus
software (McAfee 6.0 with DAT 4296, which they say deals
with the Qhosts trojan). I also downloaded and ran the
fixqhosts tool from symantec, and it couldn't find the
trojan. But when I look in my windows/help file, the
file named "hosts" is there. So does that mean I have
the trojan? And if so, why can't either of these anti-
virus tools detect it? What should I do?
