can't connect to unix/sco server

I am trying to connect to a SCO/Unix box. When I go to \\unix I get "\\unix
is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network
resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions. The account is not authorized to log in from this
station" then I have an OK button. at other computers a window comes up
prompting me for a username/password. This is a WindowXP w/ SP1.

Any ideas are appreciated.

You must pay SCO $1,000,000 in licence fees before you can connect.
 
thanks, but we have the license. this machine connected in the past. I
reinstalled XP due to a system crash
 
Can you connect using the IP address? Do you use Active Directory? Here's
an article that might help:

This article mentions Windows 9x but it may be relevant to your situation as
well.

So do you have a username/password set up on the Unix box? Did
you try that when you were prompted?

You need to be a bit more specific about how you are attempting
to access the Unix box.

Is the Unix box running SAMBA? XP running an NFS client?

Are you using Services for Unix on XP?

Is your username/password set up on the Unix side? Is it the same as
you are using on the XP side? Do you have any form of password
synchronization set up? Unix box support NTLM?

Can you ping/telnet/ftp/x-windows the Unix box?

Your best bet would be to contact your Unix system Admin or Network
admin.

I don't get prompted. I get the error message right away. If I am prompted
like at other computers I enter the info and then it works.
