Can't connect to the internet

Have upgraded from xp home to xp pro, now cannot access
the internet, modem is working properly, but get a message
saying it isn't connected?
 
What kind of modem? Internal? Dial-up? We need a lot more info than you
have provided. Please provide more info on hardware and set up of how your
modem connects to the internet.

Your problem could be down to a multitude of things, but is most
likely caused by something changing when you upgraded.

How do you know the modem is working properly? What type of message
do you get
saying it hasn't connected?
