cant connect to the internet

having problems connecting to the net. recently, i tried
updating win2000 from the net but suddenly got
disconnected. when i tried to log back in, i couldnt
anymore. it cant detect my modem although it's there. when
i look at the hardware manager, the parallel device has
a ? on it under other devices. what seems to be the
problem? please help me. thanks!
 
Hi Michelle,

First thing to do would be to uninstall the modem and remove the device with the question
mark.
Reboot the computer.
See if it detects the modem.
Test.

Sounds like a driver gor corrupted at some point.
If you reboot after uninstalling the question mark and the modem in Device Manager and it still
does not detect the modem, then try obtianing updated drivers for the modem from the
manufacturer or reload the ones from the disk or CD that came with the modem.
