I add two new dell PC's running windows xp pro on the network(peer to peer).
We have dsl service and some sites will not connect (ex. www.ups.com,
www.hp.com). It just times on with "The page can not be displayed". Other
site seem to work ok. I don't think it is a DNS issue since some sites will
work and entering the ip address of a certain site still will not work. The
other existing machines(Windows 98) on the network are fine. It is just the
XP machines that are giving us problems. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,
Anthony

Hi Anthony,

Suggestions:

Go to Windows\System32\DRIVERS\etc and rename hosts. Also go to:
winnt\help. If it is listed, delete it. Once done to go to
Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\
Tcpip\Parameters
DataBasePath" = %SystemRoot%\help

And change it to:
DataBasePath" = %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc

For DNS/Page Cannot Be Displayed:

Catman;
I got to both sites using your links. Take a look at your Security settings.
