Can't connect to my server

I have called my ISP they gave me what should be the
stmp-server.tampabay.rr.com but it still does not work. My computer was put
back to factory settings after I got a virus and the mail was working great
until now. I don't remember how I set it up last time. It was a floor model
and I seem to recall I didn't have this much problem last time. I called
staples they told me to go to the windows website and they should give me
the information there. Can someone please help me before I pull what little
hair I have left out.
 
You must provide more information to get help.

Please copy the error message from the status box and paste it into a reply.
Also provide all the settings you are using, not just the server name,
except don't provide the entire error message. More specifically, what ports
are you using? What is the pop3 server (for receiving messages)? Do you have
"My server requires authentication" selected? Do you know where the help
page is at for your ISP (Road Runner) that explains how to set up email
programs for your email account?

It's smtp..... NOT stmp.
Was that just your typo, or that's how you entered the name when setting up
the account ?
Also post the entire error message. Cannot help without it.

Sam, I don't understand your advice "don't provide the entire

That goes against what most responders here have been advising
for years.
