I have completed a clean install of XP Pro and can't connect to the internet. I have checked my internet connection settings and everything looks correct. I connect through an always on LAN at home. The settings are the same as my laptop which I'm using right now on the same LAN to send this message.

I have rebooted my DSL modem with no luck. Any suggestions?

Are you aware of the potential of getting hit by msblaster
or one of its variants when dealing with a new install of XP?
Does this LAN include a router?
If not, do you have the XP or third-party firewall enabled?
If you are not using a router or do not have a firewall enabled
you will get hit by msblaster or one of its variants shortly after
you successfully connect to the Internet, before you can get
to the Windows Update site to install all critical updates.
Does everything look OK in Device Manager?
Have you tried a different Ethernet cable for this computer?
