Can't connect to internet

After running windows xp live update I can no longer
connect to any websites on the internet. I use earthlink
as my ISP and I can connect to their server and go through
all the whole dial up process, (connecting to server,
authenticating user, connected) but it is at this point I
can't view any pages, not yahoo, google, earthlink home
page, nothing! I keep getting the "can not display this
page error" for every website I try. Can anyone offer any
suggestions?

I get the same problem (and just posted a similar
question). Some websites work, many don't. Very odd.
