Before connecting to the VPN, can you ping a public IP? If yes, can you ping yahoo.com? posting the result of ipconfig /all here may help.

Hi,
I have this bizarre problem that i can't connect to the internet over
BT DSL connection without having authenticated to my VPN. This problem
wasn't there before approx 1year and has developed recently. As soon
as i log onto my VPN i can connect to internet. In my Internet connections
options->LAN settings-> i have Automatically detect settings ticked thats
all. Pc is running Win2000.
Another problem which may or maynot be related, my max MTU size is
resticted
to 1372, i need to set to 1500 to allow some apps to work. I've tried using
my
VPN 'set MTU' setting and TCP Optimzer tool to change the MTU size but
neither method works. Anyone any ideas
Thanks
