Users or Win2K DC running DNS can't connect to an
externally hosted web server. The AD domain name
is "ABC.LOCAL" and the external website is "ABC.ORG".

Whenever "ABC.ORG" is typed in the IE address IMMEDIATELY
responds with error. However, you can type in the IP
Address and the website appears almost instantly.

The OS is Windows 2000 Small Business Server. I'm all I
need to do is add some pointer to the REAL web server
hosting "ABC.ORG".

There would have to be another problem, such as a zone in the local DNS
named abc.org or a root "." forward lookup zone.
abc.local will not interfere with abc.org. since abc.org is not local it
will either forward or recurse the name, depending on how you've configured
DNS.
