Hi,

I have two computers (a win2000 domain-server and an old win98) in a LAN. I
can ping from one to the other.
The disc on win98 is shared for everybody.
When i try a 'net use' from the win2000 or with the menu Tools/Map network
drive to the share disc of the win98, it says it can't connect. I'm using
its IP (\\10.0.0.60\c).
Any idea why and how to solve this?
Thanks
Kevin

sound like name resolution issue. Have you enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP on the windows 2000? This link may help,

Hi Bob, thanks for replying ...

I installed on both computers NetBeui and now it works ... only if i do: \\10.0.0.60\c
If i do: \\pro180\c (name of win98), i get: "the account is not authorized to log in from this station".
Strange, because i can ping pro180. On the win98 box, the share is set on "full" without password.

I miss something, i"m afraid of ...

Thanks again, but it still doesn't work.

I did everything except:
"Use Regedit to enable unencrypted (plain text) passwords for the SMB client" (how to do this).
