Can't connect my video camera to Movie Maker

Have I got the only video camera that can't be used with Windows Movie Maker?
Or am I doing something wrong?

It's a Panasonic NVGS11B, and when all connected it just isn't detected at
all. Just gives me audio options, no video options at all. Is my camera
none compatible?

My camera is digital, yeah. It's a Mini DV camera.

Now, from I'm getting from here... I need to find out if my PC has got a
Firewire card installed.. how do I do that?
And I need a different cable to connect the camera to it (if there is one),
And I think I also need to install Service Pack 2 on my PC.

Are these Service Packs free to download, or is that a stupid question,
considering I'm talking about Microsoft?

Well, thanks for the clue as to where Device Manager is.
I found it okay..and surprise surprise, no Firewire card.

I found a few things that mentioned the word 'video', and these are:

LEGACY VIDEO CAPTURE DEVICES
VIDEO CODECS
INDEO VIDEO 5.10

Are any of these of any use with Movie Maker, or does it absolutely have to
be a Firewire?

As always, grateful for any help!

No all of those are fine....they refer to software settings in the most
part. If your camera has a Firewire (or iLink) terminal then you must have
a firewire card and cable in order to get full control over your camera and
the best quality video. Firewire cards are quite cheap £15 or so in the
UK...that would be something like US $17. The cables are a little more
expensive. I have always found the BELKIN range of products to be good and
they do a kit which would suit your needs (if NOT using a laptop that is)
It contains the necessary hardware and instructions
