Can't configure Win2000 pro as router/ip forwarder

I am trying to cofigure Win2000Pro as router/IP-Forwarder but so far I had
no luck.


Windows 2000 Pro machine is connected to the internet via
another machine (Freesco Router). It is configured by freesco DHCP.
I can use internet from W2K machine, but not from laptop:

Using laptop I can ping b NIC, but not a nor d.
I have changed IPEnableRouter in w2k to 1, but still no go.

I've also tried enabling Internet Connection sharing on b adapter. Nothing
seems to work.
Do any of you know if it' s possible to access internet that way.
Appreciate any ideas.
 
You are using a gateway on you wireless and internal nic, which is a nono.
If your router is 192.168.1.1, the IP on your W2K and your laptop should be
in that range too. Your laptop is now in the 192.168.2-range.
Why are you using 2 nics in the W2K?

O got rid of one gateway.
The other nic is a wireless card actualy.

But the problem still remains - how to transfer internet traffic from one
nic to another transparently on this windows machine.

If both your computers are connected to a router, you still don't need the 2
nics in one computer.
Make sure they both are in the same workgroup. Does your router have a
DHCP-server?
 
Only one computer (windows machine) is connected to the router.
Laptop is connected to the windows machine, that's why I'm having a problem
of reaching internet. I need the internet traffic routed through windows
2000 pro.
It would be easy if the win2000 would be directly connected to the internet,
cause there are lots of tools including Internet Connection Sharing. But
there is no software I could find that could route IP traffic transparently
from one NIC to another.

Why, it's not confusing. It's all in sequence: Internet, Freesco router,
hub, desktop (Win 2000), AD HOC to laptop. Everything works except laptop
has no internet because of damn windows not able to route packets like linux
does.
The router is a 486 machine running Freesco router OS. The desktop is
running windows 2000.
To this setup I wanted to connect wirelesly from the laptop and have
internet. I accomplished it with AD HOC connection between desktop and
laptop.

I have a hub between router and desktop, but that is "wired" connection and
I need wireless.

The wireless NIC card in windows 2000 only has drivers for windows, that's
why it has to be on windows machine. And another problem is that this
windows machine is not directly connected to internet. It's not secure to
connect windows to internet directly.
 
After wrestling with this problem for 3 days (and some nights), I finally
solved it !
Appearantly I had a solution right at the begining, but didn't know.

I am using Proxomitron - a kind of web proxy to filter pop-ups and other
junk. All browsers are configured to go through this proxy on local machine.
I also discovered that in config area there's a setting - "allow connections
from local machine only". I changed that setting to "allow connections from
IP range..." and filled my local IP range there.
Next step was to configure laptop's browser to use this win2000 machine as
proxy server and wolla, now I can sit with my laptop in the balcony and
search on google...

Isn't technology great !!!
 
All computers that are connected to the hub should point to your router in
the Gateway of the LAN-settings. Furthermore, they should all be in the same
IP-range. If you want to share the internetconnection from the desktop, you
will have to do that on the LAN-connection that is connecting to the router
through the hub. Your desktop will then become a DHCP-server for your
laptop. Make sure that the router doesn't do the DHCP-serving in that case.
