I have an account with a service provider for Exhange
over the internet. About 4 weeks ago many of the ISPs
started blocking traffic on port 135 which apparently the
Exchange server uses to authenticate.

The Service Provider began offering VPN access to the
Exchange server but I still can't authenticate on account
set up when I select "check name"

Any ideas???

yes I believe I'm using the VPN correctly. Until the
recent viruses I was able to connect without the use of
the VPN and everything was happy.

I get the same behavior VPN or no VPn on 2 different
ISPs, SBC(DSL) and comcast(cable) my user name will not
authenticate when I choose "check name"

are you connecting properly using VPN? Are you getting any errors?

NOpe....do you concur that port 135 blocking is a problem
with authentication?

If no, it doesn't work with a straight through
connection. I find it odd that one of the other posts I
saw on the site kept loading and unloading then reloading
Office XP and Outlook 2003 and he finally got his to
work. Maybe it's not the same problem but if it was
somehting in the files/configs is trashed.

Although in my case when the problem occurred I actually
went back and completely reloaded my machine from scratch
and the problem didn't go away.
