Can't completely sign out of Windows Messenger

I am on a shared computer. I was originally using Windows Messenger and had
it set to automatically log in when I went into my account. I then
downloaded MSN Messenger and had it set to the same. I decided to just use
Windows messenger, so I removed MSN messenger from the programs list.

I then removed my .NET account from being associated with my XP login. I
also unchecked the "Run Windows Messenger when Windows starts" check box in
Tools->Preferences. When I log out of XP, all users can still see how many
mail messages I have in my hotmail account. I am logged into messenger
somewhere, but I have no idea where. I do not use outlook or outlook
express. And I do not use Internet Explorer as my browser.

Any ideas on how to get completely logged out of messenger and not have
anything associated to my XP log in?

Thanks!

Greetings,

Everytime you log into MSN Messenger, the Hotmail total will be added to the welcome screen.

To disable this feature, download the TweakUI powertoy:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp (see on the right).

After you have TweakUI installed, click Start, All Programs, Powertoys for Windows XP, and
choose TweakUI for Windows XP. In the TweakUI window, on the left, click the '+' next to
Logon, and choose Unread Mail. Uncheck 'Show unread mail on Welcome screen' and click OK.
