After installing Outlook 2000, I typed in wrong password to my mail account. I have since corrected this problem but I can't delete the unsent message from my outbox. I get a message that the MAPI is in the process of sending this message. Error number 0x80040114. How can I delete this message?

Place Outlook in Offline mode; File-> Work Offline
Restart Outlook
Delete the message

I tried the Work Offline ... still won't let me delete. It gives me a message that MAPI is in the process of trying to send message.

Here's what we did. We have Outlook 2000 on a LAN at work. We had a user that had a message stuck in the outbox. When we tried to delete it, we received a message that the message we were trying to delete was being spooled. Then Outlook would lock up. Using Task Manager we stopped Outlook, started it back up. Then we went to Tools>Services and chose the user then clicked Properties and changed the Connection to Manual then Apply, OK and closed Outlook. Then we disconnected the network cable from the computer and did a restart. Started Outlook, deleted the message from the Outbox, reconfigured Outlook connection back to LAN, closed Outlook, plugged the network cable back in and restarted the computer. Outlook now works fine. I would think if someone were on a dial-up all they would need to do is make sure the connection was set to manual and unplug the phone line into the modem. The key is to not have Outlook automatically to a send/receive on start-up. On a LAN, it doesn't seem to matter whether or not Outlook is configured to dial-up, it can "see" the internet connection.
