Can't clear internet explorer history

For some reason i can't always delete internet explorer
history. Sometimes it will clear by 'date' but not 'by
order visited' or 'by site' etc. I have even downloaded
and run 'big red button' but this makes no difference.

Any thoughts?

Try this: Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools | Internet Options |
General tab | click on 'Clear History'.

It is when I do this that the history doesn't clear. It
is the 'by site visited' and 'by site' that doesn't
clear. the others clear quite happily...
