I have published my complete website but am having
problems with the home page. (using Front Page 2002 on NT)

When I enter the URL I see the old home page on xxx.com.
However, the designated home page is index.htm and this
has been updated as the home button on the page points to
this and it's the latest version.
I have tried republishing just this page, and restting
home page as index.htm to double check but this doesn't
work.

How can I update the page which you first land on when
typing the URL?

Check with your host and see what
the home page default name is supposed to be.
quite often it is index.html instead of index.htm

try opening www.yoursite.com/index.htm
and then www.yoursite.com/index.html

and see if your new page has the html extension.
If so rename your local copy and then republish.
