My homepage in IE 6.0 has been mysteriously changed to a
page I do not want. When I go to Tools-Options to change
the page back I do not get the General tab as an option
to change it. Any suggestion?

I have already tried reinstalling IE from the download
website at MS and have also reinstalled the XP operating
system - neither solved the problem

sounds like you have a worm or virus, get a scan find out
what ya got first, try hijack this, software it will tell
you what on your pc.
